Bio

Brad Andrus – Artist • Author • Tattooer

I’m Brad Andrus, a veteran of the commercial art world with over 20 years of experience and a lifelong passion for creativity. For the past 21 years, tattooing has been my craft, and in 2012, I founded Safe Voyage Tattoo—a studio built on talent, passion, and a whole lot of creative energy. It’s become a space where both artists and clients feel inspired and at home.

I’m an award-winning artist whose work has been featured in books and magazines around the world—though I’m not one to brag. My strengths lie in 2D art, storytelling through visuals, and creating environments where creativity thrives. Over the years, I’ve developed a knack for turning simple ideas to not so simple ideas into meaningful projects, whether it’s on skin, paper, or the page of a children’s book. I also take pride in mentoring other artists and leading with a team-first mindset.

Recently, a spark of inspiration hit me—kind of like Ray on top of the Shandor Building in Ghostbusters. It just popped in there: ghost art. That moment led to 13 Ghost Project, a personal project blending visual art with storytelling, which eventually inspired my first children’s book.

In 2025, I published The Adventures of Charleston the Ghost—a fun, spooky story that brings together my love of character design, visual storytelling, and kid-friendly creepiness. What started as a creative spark has grown into something much bigger and deeply fulfilling.

Outside the studio and sketchbook, I’m a devoted family man, always finding balance and inspiration in the life I share with my loved ones. I’m constantly learning, evolving, and pushing my work forward—because creativity doesn’t stand still, and neither do I.
